Aleksandar Simurdić was born in Novi Sad on 27th August 1991. He finished the elementary school "Đorđe Natošević" in Novi Sad (holder of the “Vuk Karadžić” diploma) along with the elementary music school "Isidor Bajić". He enrolled at the secondary music school "Isidor Bajić" at the same time as the secondary school "Isidora Sekulić" in Novi Sad. He graduated from the Faculty of Law in Novi Sad in 2017 and acquired the title of graduate lawyer. He is the recipient of the Saint Sava Charter (2006) of the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Government of the Republic of Serbia for achieved exceptional results. He is currently the director of the European Affairs Fund of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. In 2010, he became a member of the European Movement in Serbia. From 2011 to 2014, he was a member of the Executive Board of the European Movement Novi Sad office. In the term in office 2014-2017, he was twice elected secretary general, and since 2017 he has been the president of the Novi Sad office. He has successfully coordinated a number of regional and national projects in partnership with the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) - the Open regional funds for South-East Europe, Promotion of EU integration through regional cooperation, Regional Youth Cooperation Office's (RYCO), the Government of Poland and the Government of the United Kingdom, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and others. He has led teams for drafting strategic documents for local self-government units in the AP Vojvodina and for the Provincial Government: Rural development strategies for eight municipalities in Bačka; Food Industry Development Plan in the AP Vojvodina (2020-2027); Rubber and Plastics Sector Development Plan in the AP Vojvodina (2020-2027); Strategic approach to public policy making in the AP Vojvodina in the field of economy and tourism in the context of negotiations for the accession of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union, etc. He was elected a member of the Executive Board of the European Movement in Serbia in 2015. In two terms, he was elected Vice President of the European Movement in Serbia (in 2017 in the term of President Prof. Mihajlo Crnobrnja PhD, and in 2019 in the term of President Jelica Minić PhD). Simurdić has been a member of the expert Team Europe since 2015, which is a network of national experts who specialize in topics related to the European Union. The network was established in May 2013 after consultations with the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia and civil society organizations. He is the founder and program director of the Regional Youth Leadership Forum, which has been held in Novi Sad since 2015. Over five-year time span, owing to the Forum, Novi Sad has hosted more than 1000 socially active young people from the Western Balkans, with the participation of several presidents and prime ministers of the Western Balkans and the European Union, representatives of the diplomatic corps, public administration, civil sector and media. Since 2015, he has been a member of the Working Group on Chapter 23 (Judiciary and Fundamental Rights), and since 2019, the coordinator of the Intersectional Working Group on Monitoring the Berlin Process at the National Convention on the European Union. The National Convention on the EU is a network of associations created with the aim of maintaining and promoting dialogue between representatives of the state administration, political parties, non-governmental organizations, experts, the economy, trade unions and professional organizations on Serbia's accession to the European Union. Together with more than 750 member organizations, it represents the largest organized support for Serbia's accession to the European Union. At the session held on 12th November 2020, the Provincial Government passed a decision on the appointment of Simurdić as the director of the European Affairs Fund of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. The European Affairs Fund of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina was established by the Provincial Assembly Decision in 2010 and designated as the legal successor of the Office for European Affairs of the of the Executive Council of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. The Fund has been established in order to monitor, analyse and implement the European integrative processes and build and strengthen the institutional capacities of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, aiming at faster integration of the Republic of Serbia into major European political and economic processes, as well as to establish economic, scientific, educational and cultural cooperation with European cities and regions and their institutions. In 2017, Simurdić was a participant of the annual Austrian Leadership Programs (ALPS) under the auspices of the Austrian Government, which gathers up to 30 young people from all over the world who shape public opinion in their communities. He was a participant in the European Union Visitors Program (EUVP) - a program for getting acquainted with the institutions of the European Union, Brussels in 2017. His areas of interest are regional and international cooperation; political systems; multilateral institutions and negotiation; reconciliation and the process of European integration and enlargement of the European Union. He has worked on several international projects and is the co-author of articles and texts on international relations, regional initiatives and accession to the European Union. He speaks English fluently.
