Adelina Farrici

Executive Director, Association for Local Autonomy, Albania

Adelina Farrici is the Executive Director of the Association for Local Autonomy Albania. Adelina attended the studies at the University of Tirana, at the Faculty of Natural Sciences where she graduated in 1990, in the branch of physics. In 2010, she attended postgraduate studies in the field of Business Administration. Starting from 1990, for two consecutive decades, Farrici would be involved in the education system, where she would work as a teacher and director in several pre-university education institutions. During this period, she would be involved in several movements where she stood out as an activist of women's rights and community involvement in decision-making processes. In 2011, she was elected the first woman mayor in the history of Burrel Municipality, one of the most important units of Dibra district. As a mayor, Farrici succeeded in triumphing on gender biases, encouraging the female figure in this region to become more involved in decision-making processes. Adelina Farrici would be elected the Executive Director of the Association for Local Autonomy in December 2015. At present, she represents the local governance in many Steering Committee projects and she is also Secretary of the National Delegation to the Congress of Regional and Local Authorities.
